How to start fishing
- Reach the Lakefront through the Sewer entrance in the park.
- Speak to Fisherman Herb at the Lakefront for the first time to receive the Old Fishing Rod.
- Equip the rod and check its bait with the Use command.
- Select bait appropriate to the water where you are fishing.
- Cast and wait for the bite prompt.
- During the minigame, click repeatedly only while the moving arrow overlaps the blue bar. Fill the progress bar to land the fish.

Bait and fishing locations
Different waters require different bait, so a failed cast is not always a timing problem. Select Use on the equipped rod to inspect bait, then match it to the location. The official task reference notes that Bait Packs can be purchased at the General Store when Bugs are needed.
Fishing is also part of progression. The Mall back-hallway task Fishing in the Mall..? asks for a Stalktopus from the nearby pool and summons the Mall Administrator on completion, which in turn is required for Adrian's Basic Axe task.
Improve catch quality
- Raise Fishing level before chasing difficult quality requirements.
- Use an upgraded rod when your Fishing level permits it.
- Check the weather and Luck when a task requests a specific quality.
- The official A Ghostly Catch task notes that higher Fishing, higher Luck, rain or storms, and an Angler's Potion make a Void-quality Ghost Flounder easier to catch.
Common fishing problems
- No rod: talk to Fisherman Herb at the Lakefront.
- Cannot reach the Lakefront: use the Sewer entrance in the park and follow the Casting your Line progression.
- No bites or invalid bait: inspect the rod with Use and change bait for that water.
- Minigame keeps failing: click while the arrow is inside the blue zone instead of holding a fixed rhythm.
